Episode 1: Pediatric Inpatient Acupuncture at CHOCProduced by the Acupuncture Now Foundation
Story Synopsis

Episode 1: Healing Through Collaboration

Facing complications from brain surgery and grueling chemotherapy treatments, neurosurgeon Dr. William Loudon suggested to Max and Cade's parents that they try something outside the conventional box: he introduced them to CHOC hospital acupuncturist Ruth McCarty.

Over the next few years, acupuncture not only helped ease the severe fatigue, persistent nausea, and pain so common in cancer recovery, but played an indispensable role in helping Cade recover from a devastating stroke he suffered following his second brain surgery.

This documentary presents heartfelt interviews with parents, surgeons, nurses, and the young patients themselves, proving what is possible when modern hospitals embrace evidence-based acupuncture.
